Devil’s Slide Emergency
Pacifica, CA
Contract Value: $4.1M
Owner: California Department of Transportation
General Contractor: Gordon N Ball
Scopes:
Drill Tech was contracted by the California Department of Transportation to provide ground support as construction crews worked to re-open Highway 1 after a major road failure. The jobsite consisted of highly variable ground conditions prone to landslides, including sandy clay soils, weathered and fractured bedrock with fissures and voids, and hard un-weathered rock. Drill Tech installed tie-back anchors, reinforced shotcrete and concrete walers, battered micropiles, and provided drilling and grouting services. As the project progressed and the highway remained closed, Drill Tech designed and built temporary soil nail shoring to increase ground support. Drill Tech crews worked around the clock for three months to re-open the highway.
