In late 2010, Drill Tech was contracted to provide temporary support for the demolition and reconstruction of UC Berkley’s outdoor football stadium. Drill Tech’s teams underpinned and braced the 86-year-old stadium wall facade and temporarily shored the stadium’s wall systems. Our teams used a diverse range of shoring methods as needed, including hand-dug shoring pits, soil nail walls, micropile foundation supports, CIDH piles, above-grade steel bracing structures, as well as soldier beam and lagged walls. To improve ground strength throughout the demolition process, Drill Tech used soil mixing and jet grouting technologies. The original stadium straddled the Hayward Fault line; with our shoring and support, the historical wall weathered three earthquakes over the course of the project without incident. The completed California Memorial Stadium opened its doors in 2012.
