Access shafts are constructed to address material movement, ventilation, sending/receiving pits, and other special-use programs. Shafts facilitate the movement of equipment, personnel, materials, and other support systems common to tunnel projects. Drill Tech’s significant experience excavating and supporting shafts has led to completed projects at depths of over 1,000 feet, in numerous ground types, including “gassy” shafts. Our support options range from CSM and secant wall support to rock anchors, steel sets, shotcrete, and concrete in rock when mining in dewatered ground conditions. Drill Tech’s expertise also includes shaft sinking systems that utilize mechanized hoisting, headframes, Galloways, shaft jumbos/muckers, and support systems for shaft slip forms.
